Urbannexuscommerce: who we are and how we work

Urbannexuscommerce is a Brisbane car care shop that opened on Queen Street in 2015, selling cabin parts, detailing supplies and interior accessories to drivers.

The short version

We sell what we use, and we use what we sell

Stock we can stand behind

Every cleaner and dressing on the shelf has been through our own bay. If it streaks, stains or gives up after a month, it does not get reordered.

Fitment checked twice

We match the part to your VIN before it leaves the counter, then check it again when you collect. Wrong part, no argument, we swap it.

Prices on the page

Detailing starts at $189 and brake pad sets at $89 per axle. No “call for price” games, and no surprise add-ons at the end.

Freight that makes sense

Small parts go by tracked satchel for $12.50 anywhere in Australia. Bulky items are quoted before we pack them, not after.

How it started

A counter, a phone and a filter catalogue

The shop began as a side project. Tom was doing mobile detailing around Brisbane and kept getting asked where to buy cabin filters and decent microfibre. He started ordering a few boxes at a time, then a few pallets, and eventually the back room on Queen Street made more sense than the boot of his wagon.

Eleanor joined in 2017 after running parts desks for a dealership group. She brought the catalogue discipline and the habit of writing everything down. That is why we can still tell you which pad compound went into a 2014 Corolla three years ago.

We are not a big-box store and we do not plan to be. Two bays, one counter and a phone that a person answers is enough to keep us busy and keep the advice honest.

  1. 2015

    First counter on Queen Street

A single shelf of filters, a card machine and a lot of handwritten receipts. The first month turned over $6,200.

  2. 2017

    Eleanor takes the parts desk

The catalogue gets organised properly. Special orders start arriving in 48 hours instead of a week.

  3. 2020

    The first detailing bay opens

We take over the room behind the counter and add steam extraction, a wet vac and a proper drying rack.

  4. 2024

    Second bay and same-day fitment

Aisha joins full time and we can now check fitment, quote and book a car in the same phone call.

What we believe

Three rules we keep coming back to

01

Fitment before price

A cheap pad that does not fit is a waste of a Saturday. We confirm the part number first, then work out what it costs. Sometimes the answer is “we cannot get that here”, and we say so.

02

Tell people what will not work

If a seat cover will block an airbag, we refuse the sale. If a carpet stain will not lift, we say that before the car goes in the bay. Bad news early is cheaper for everyone.

03

Keep the range small

We would rather have four cabin filters that cover most of Brisbane than forty that cover nothing properly. The same goes for cloths, cleaners and brake pad compounds.

The people

Who you will actually deal with

Tom Varga

Tom Varga

Owner and detailing lead

Started with a mobile bucket and a van. Still does the difficult odour jobs himself because he likes the puzzle.

Eleanor Hayes

Parts and catalogue

Ran dealership parts desks for eleven years. Can find a part number from a photo of a compliance plate more often than she will admit.

Aisha Noor

Workshop and fitment

Handles the fitment checks and most of the brake work. Trained on European models and has the scraped knuckles to prove it.

Ben Cutler

Counter and freight

Packs the satchels and answers the phone. If your order needs a weird box size, Ben is the one who finds it.

Work we have done

A few jobs from the last year

Fleet of small delivery vans lined up for a cabin refresh

Fleet work

Cabin refresh for 14 courier vans

Seats extracted, hard surfaces cleaned and cabin filters replaced across a mixed fleet. Done over two weekends so no van was off the road for a full day.

Family wagon interior after an odour recovery treatment

Odour recovery

Spilled milk in a seven-seat wagon

The smell had been there for five weeks. Carpet out, underlay dried, evaporator flushed. The owner picked it up the next morning and said it smelled like nothing, which was the goal.

Service parts

Brake refresh for a 2014 Hilux

The owner came in for the cheapest set. We showed him the backing plate difference, he went with the mid-range compound, and the squeal he had lived with for a year went away.

Successes that matter

Numbers we actually track

We do not have a growth chart on the wall. These are the numbers that tell us the counter is doing its job.

97%

of parts orders leave with the correct fitment first time

31

detailing jobs booked in the last four weeks

6

special orders we could not fill in 2024, all refunded same week

Inside the bay

Where the work happens

Detailing bay with extraction equipment and a car seat removed

Bay one is set up for seat and carpet extraction. The wet vac lives there permanently.

Shelves of cabin filters and service parts at the counter

The counter shelf holds the common filters, pads and blades. Everything else is a phone call away.

Cleaning products and microfibre cloths on a drying rack

Products get tested here before they go on the shelf. The reject pile is bigger than the keep pile.
